Almost weekly I’m pitched stories of inspiration from women who have experienced life altering challenges. They have faced near death, disease, loss of income and security, loss of a loved one and physical and/or emotional abuse. What they all have in common is that, despite being whacked down to their knees, these women did not lose their will or spirit. They may waiver but they never give up.

Here are their lessons I share with you:

It’s good to walk away from something that is harmful or that no longer serves your purpose. But you cannot run away from the challenge ahead. You have to face them head on.

Seeking help is a sign of strength. You know what you need and are strong enough to ask for it.

Offering help is an act of compassion and also self-preservation. Stepping out from your dark cloud to do something to help others will lighten your spirit.

Don’t give up your long term dreams because of short term setbacks and challenges.

The worst case scenario can only get better if you put your mind to it. What you are facing may lead to a new purpose.

You are never too old to change your life…or your attitude.
